Easy Snack Ideas for Toddlers

Sharing is caring!

Do you find yourself running out of ideas for healthy snacks to feed your toddler?  I always need EASY snacks for my toddlers that are packed with nutrition.

This is my big list of 35 healthy, easy, and convenient snacks to feed your toddler. These easy, healthy snacks are good if you’re in a rush and don’t want to spend a lot of time making snack food.

I know when my twins get hungry I don’t have a lot of time to spend making snacks.  They can get cranky and irritable so it’s important to have easy foods on hand.  Most of these snacks are also good for on-the-go.

I try not to do more than two snacks a day, otherwise, I notice my twins don’t eat as much for breakfast, lunch, or dinner.  When they do eat in-between-meals,  I want easy snack ideas for my toddlers – that are also healthy and full of nutrition.

Do you need easy snack ideas for your toddler, that are healthy, too?

Anybody with a toddler is busy. I bet the last thing you want to do is spend tons of time making a snack which they may or may-not eat.  My boys are always keeping me busy and demanding my attention.  I don’t have time for snack prepping, but I also want them eating healthy (instead of always grabbing a bag of something processed and unhealthy – which is convenient, but not the best for them).

Do you have a picky eater?

Sometimes, toddlers can be very picky eaters.  My twins seem to go through phases of what they will eat so I do gear my snacks around that, but I always try to offer something different too, to see if they will try it.

It’s good to keep offering foods to your toddler even if they don’t seem interested.  Sometimes I put broccoli on their plate even if they aren’t interested (broccoli is actually their favorite food at the moment- they will eat a full adult size serving – no joke).  I will sit down and usually eat with them, so they can see me eating the snack, too.  By eating with them I know I am getting something healthy so I can keep my energy up!

Right now I’m trying to keep them away from too many processed foods because I want to set the foundation for them about eating healthy and eating real food.  We do eat snacky, processed foods with sugar on occasion (and really they don’t even prefer that – except their recent discovery of ice cream – which they prefer lots of).  I really try to limit and watch that because they are at an age where they aren’t quite aware of those types of foods, so why even let them know they exist!

But they are toddlers and get hungry quite frequently, and we are busy, just like everyone else.  So I try to give them what is the healthiest and easiest.

Easy Healthy Toddler Snack

Here is my list of Easy Snacks (that are healthy, too!) that my twins love to eat on a regular basis.

Fruit (All of these are soft fruits that are perfect for toddlers who don’t have all their teeth- These are my toddler’s favorites!)

  • Blueberries

    • My twins usually eat frozen wild blueberries (wild blueberries are much smaller).  I buy them frozen that way we always have blueberries on hand.  Frozen wild blueberries are a popular snack at our house.

  • Avocado – Full of good fat and filling, one of my toddlers’ favorite foods and very alkaline (we eat this weekly, if not daily)

  • Mandarins

  • Strawberries (Sliced up)

  • Pear Slices

  • Peach slices with skin removed

  • Applesauce or another puree in squeeze pouches

  • Freeze-Dried Fruit

  • Fruit Smoothie

    • A good combination is a yogurt, frozen fruit, sometimes chopped spinach or avocado, and water. My twins love this Avocado Mango Smoothie and this Berry Spinach Smoothie.

    • I use these cups for toddler smoothies.  They are inexpensive and work great.  When we lose the straws I just use disposable straws in them because they fit perfectly.  We use this blender for our smoothies.  It blends veggies and nuts, too, and is super easy to clean.

  • Grapes (sliced up)

  • Blackberries (sliced)

  • Watermelon

  • Bananas

  • Prunes

    • I break them apart into small pieces with my fingers.  My toddlers love prunes.  They would eat a whole bag if I let them.

  • Olives (sliced)

    • One of my toddler’s favorite snacks.  They have good fats in them which is great for brain development.

  • Raisins

  • Fruit and Nut Bites

  • Homemade fruit/veggie popsicle

    • Popsicles are a favorite snack for my toddlers.  I make my own from smoothies (with this blender) or jars/squeeze pouches of baby food.  These popsicles are good for when it’s hot outside, too.  I use this mold.
