About Me

Twin Mom Refreshed

Twin Mom Refreshed is a place where you can find easy and do-able play-based learning activities that you can engage in with your toddler.

I know moms and dads don’t have a lot of time to prepare for activities and meals because young children demand so much time and energy.  My activities don’t require a lot of time to be set up and are also cost-efficient – two things which I am a fan of.  My meals are easy and healthy. I need my recipes to be easy, quick, and nutritious on a daily basis.  If you’re a busy parent then I’m sure you do too!

Being a mom, dad, or caretaker is a lot of work (like A LOT of work) – your attention and time should be devoted to your child – not to the work for prep of activities or recipes.  Even though my activities and meal ideas may be quick and simple, they are all intentional, well-thought-out, and have a purpose. They will keep your child thriving on many levels – as my twins are now!

My Mission

My mission is to bring ideas and inspiration to parents and caretakers of young children; to help enrich your toddler’s life through play and activities (AKA learning!).

Babies, toddlers, and young children are like sponges that soak up everything around them.  Implementing activities that help support each child’s social, emotional, cognitive, and physical needs are crucial.  I believe everything is a learning experience for young children, no matter what the activity or task.

All of my activities and meals I blog about are approved by my twin toddlers – and things I BELIEVE IN – to help them reach their potential.  My twins will grow in numerous ways from all of these activities – and I know your child can, too!

My Background

I have a background of over 10+ years in education.  I have worked primarily in early childhood as a preschool teacher. I’ve also worked with elementary-aged children and I received my Masters In Teaching in Elementary and Early Childhood Education from Lewis and Clark College in Portland, Oregon.  I received my Bachelor’s in Human Development.

Since then I have worked in education and then became a stay at home mom to my twins, who are now toddlers.  I also have a school-aged son and two teen step-daughters.  I’m a wife, running a household full of five children, with a German Shepard puppy, two chickens, and running this blog that I am completely passionate about (yes, life is hectic!).  You will see that I combine real-life parenting, with my knack for teaching and learning, in my blog posts.  I have the passion and skill for bringing learning into everyday life with children while making it simple, realistic, and fun at the same time.

Reality

Real Life is what matters.  I incorporate “learning” and “educational activities” when I can into my boy’s daily lives.  Healthy recipes when I can.  No, we aren’t eating “healthy toddler smoothies” every day and getting our “sensory bin play” in everyday- yet all three of my boys always seem to be right on track- or even advanced – but to them, it’s all just play.  We do what we can, when we can, and always do our best.  Having an extensive background in education I just naturally try to incorporate simple tasks into learning experiences.  My “trick” is to sneak learning opportunities into tasks we do daily. I hope my blog will inspire you to do some of my “simple” activities with your child- to help them reach their potential.
