I have no problem with my toddlers having smoothies since I make mine healthy for them. It’s such a good way to get in extra fruit and veggies. Especially vegetables they normally wouldn’t eat. When I made this toddler smoothie with avocado and mango, they licked their cup clean.
My 2-year-old twins really wanted a homemade popsicle (that is just made from a smoothie) after dinner the other day.
I didn’t have any popsicles for them (which is just a frozen smoothie in this popsicle mold) on hand since they have been eating them so fast and want them every day when it’s hot out.
So I grabbed what we had from the freezer that sounded good and whipped them up a smoothie in less than 3 minutes. This sounded just as yummy as a popsicle to them.

I recently discovered you can buy frozen avocado. Yes, they sell it in the frozen fruit section (at Safeway anyway).
Frozen avocado and frozen fruit in general has really helped me make my smoothies even faster. All of it is already pre-chopped.
You can freeze your avocados if they’re about to go bad. Just peel and chop first and put in a ziplock bag. These are perfect for smoothies.
I love avocados for my kids because they’re full of good fat, which is important for brain development, and they are also very alkaline. I feed them avocado any time they want!
Mangos are high in Vitamin C and Antioxidants (as well as many other good things).
It’s so much easier to have frozen mangos and avocados on hand than always buying fresh. By having it always on hand and frozen, I know it will get into my kids’ diet on a weekly if not daily basis.
I love putting in something green like spinach or avocado for most my kid smoothies since I don’t think they can get enough of it, plus it really does hide the flavor.
This smoothie with berries and spinach is also a favorite for my twins and 9 year old son. It also has avocados in it.
I’ll usually use frozen fruit for my smoothies. Unless I have some fresh fruit that’s about to go bad.
Frozen fruit also gives smoothies a nice texture.
My boys loved this super easy and quick smoothie. I thought there would be enough leftover for popsicles, but there was none left over. They loved this smoothie.
IF you have leftovers, I suggest freezing them in a popsicle tray for later. It’s a good way to cool off and eat something healthy, and nothing goes to waste!
I put this smoothie in a cup and let them eat it with a spoon. Normally we use straws and a lid with these cups, but we decided to eat it like ice cream. Avocado gives smoothies a really creamy texture.
My twins licked the cup clean. It was just sweet enough from the frozen yogurt (had 6 grams of sugar plus it was split by my twins so about 3g sugar each).
I usually add some these boosts to my smoothies but my twins wanted their smoothie quick so I didn’t add those in. Smoothies are such an easy way to add fruit and vegetables into your toddler’s diet in a way that is fun, tastes good, and there are so many possibilities to make.
