Ice Painting Toddler Activity

Sharing is caring!

This ice painting toddler activity is a fun way for kids to paint!

This ice painting toddler activity is easy to prep and so much fun!

All you need is an ice cube tray, paint, and some toys for this activity.

If your toddler loves to paint – you should try ice painting.  This activity is a huge hit with my toddlers (since they love painting).

Ice Paint

I added toys for the handles since it makes them easier to grip for toddlers. Plus I didn’t have any popsicle sticks and they definitely need some sort of handle.

The toys are actually way easier to hold and paint with compared to popsicle sticks.

This activity takes minutes to set up!

When my toddlers were younger and put everything in their mouth we did this edible ice painting activity.  This ice block painting is good for babies and younger toddlers or if you don’t have paint!  All you need is water and food coloring.

Toddler Activities Ice Painting

Supplies Needed for the Toddler Ice Painting Activity:

  • Washable Non-Toxic Paint (I used this kind)
  • Ice cube tray or baby food tray (I used a baby food tray since they are a little deeper)
  • Small toys

How To Set Up:

  • Pour paint into ice cube tray.  I did different layers of colors.
  • Freeze 20-30 minutes then put toys in
  • Put tray back in the freezer until frozen and ready to paint (I made mine the night before- takes at least 3-4 hours to freeze)

Toddler Art Activity

This activity was so simple to set up and kept my toddlers entertained for about 20-30 minutes (until the paint ran out).

They hung their pictures out to dry then brought them in to hang them on the fridge.

This is such a fun art activity for toddlers and even big kids!
