Sharing is caring!
You probably already have everything to make this activity with, too! This color sorting fine motor activity was so easy to make and you can use it for a crayon container when you’re done. This is a go-to for us for fine motor activities for toddlers – it’s that much fun!
This activity is excellent for strengthening fine motor skills. Or you can also make this activity a challenge by having your toddler match the color crayons to the colors on the container if they’re interested. Either way, this activity is great for babies up until preschool age.
This fine motor activity kept my toddlers busy for quite a while. They loved figuring out how to push the crayons in the container, and then they would dump them out when they were done.
We also talked about the colors of their crayons and the colors on the container, since they have an interest in colors right now.
This is a great activity because it also serves as a crayon container and is good for on the go. You can take it to restaurants and it’s a great game to entertain your toddler.
My toddlers were more interested in pushing the crayons in the container rather sorting the colors. But it was a good way to reinforce colors and they will use this container multiple times.
It’s so easy to put in our art cabinet and take it out when I need a quick activity. Just keep the crayons in the container and this activity is ready to go!
This was such an engaging fine motor activity for my toddlers and my nieces, as well! They focused on this activity for at least 15-20 minutes. This is something we can keep our crayons in and use over and over.
This color sorting activity was all about letting my twins “play” with this activity and having fun, while learning, too. Toddlers learn so much from play. If they wanted to try to match the colors I was there to guide them if they wanted me to.
Let your child explore and play with this activity in their own way. I like activities that can be used in different ways – and not just the intended way. Maybe your toddlers wants a fun container to put their crayons in, or maybe they want to try to match all the colors. For me, it’s all about engaging them in easy toddler activities, so they can learn in their own way.
