Toddler Snacks Tasting Tray

Sharing is caring!

Want an easy way to get a variety of foods into your toddler’s diet?  This toddler snacks tasting tray is a fun and easy way to try a variety of food!

This toddler snacks tasting tray is the perfect size for toddlers.

This can be a good way to introduce new foods for your toddler because they can see that food with other familiar foods they are used to.  Plus it just looks fun and inviting!

My 2-year-old twins absolutely loved this tasting tray and were so excited to eat from it.

I made my tasting tray with a variety of textures and flavors so it was also a great sensory activity!  We talked about textures and flavors as they ate.  We also talked about what color the food was.  This really is a great learning activity for toddlers!

Toddler Snacks

I used foods I had on hand and tried to do a variety while sticking with whole, real foods.

I added some foods that were crunchy (sunflower seeds, apple, and unsweetened coconut chips)

Soft foods were also added (strawberries, avocado, cheese)

I added in a lemon for fun (because they always want my lemon when I make tea).  They actually sucked a lot of the juice off the lemon (while making a sour face).

I added in frozen wild blueberries (for cold food).

This toddler snacks tasting tray is adaptable and use what food you have or foods you want your toddler to try!

Tips To Make Your Own Toddler Snacks Tasting Tray:

Add in foods you want them to eat more of.  Maybe there’s vegetables they don’t really prefer.

This can even be a mini-meal.  My twins shared the whole snack tray and had a little bit leftover.

The leftovers can easily be stored in the refrigerator and eaten later so nothing goes to waste.  My container (a baby food tray – affiliate link) has a lid.

Examples of food you could add in the tasting tray:

Vegetables: steamed broccoli florets, green beans, peas, quartered cherry tomatoes, eggplant, pumpkins, squash, steamed beets, steamed carrots, steamed cauliflower, zucchini

Fruit: sliced olives, berries, unsweetened coconut chips, avocado, pear, mandarin, pineapple, melons, banana, cucumber, apple sliced small and thin

Cheese or seeds: I added in string cheese and sunflower seeds (don’t give whole nuts to your toddler because of a choking risk).

Grains: Cooked rice, quinoa, or lentils

Sour Foods: Lemon slice, lime slice, orange slice, grapefruit slice.  I added the lemon more for sensory than for them to actually eat it.

You could add dips for their food such as hummus or nut butters or they could dip their fingers in it and taste it.

Crushed ice (good if teething).

Toddler Food

It can take several times before your child likes a food.  So if they don’t eat something you serve the first time, try again!

My twins were so eager to eat off this tasting tray, that we will definitely be doing this again soon.  I’m going to add things they don’t usually eat, like eggplant and beets.
