Frog Sensory Bin for Toddlers

My boys used the leaves as lily pads and had the frogs jump on them.

They put the lizards or alligators on the rocks to dry off.

How to set up the sensory bin:

  • Fill a tub about 1/8-1/4 full of water.
  • You can set the tub up indoors or outdoors.  Just place a large towel underneath if doing indoors to make less cleanup.
  • Add in small, medium, and large rocks.  I used rocks I found outside.
  • Add in leaves and small twigs.
  • Put in the frogs and alligators or whatever swamp creatures you are using.

Swamp Sensory Play for Toddlers

My twins absolutely loved this activity.

You can go to the pet store or a zoo so they can see real frogs and lizards and other swamp-like creatures.  It would be a good activity to do before or after visiting a place like that so they can make more connections with it.

We love visiting the pet stores and the zoo and looking at all the snakes, lizards, fish, crocodiles, and other animals.

Habitat Learning Activity

Swamp was a new vocabulary word for them so this was also a wonderful learning experience that was completely hands-on!

Let your child explore this swamp sensory bin in their own way and have fun with it!  Play is the best form of learning!

Supervise your child closely with this activity since water and small parts are involved.
