Easy Toddler Breakfast Ideas

Sharing is caring!

Here are some simple and easy toddler breakfast ideas for your week.

I usually feed my twins simple and low-prep foods for their meals, that are healthy and nutritious, too.  This post focuses on healthy, easy, and simple toddler breakfast ideas, to hopefully inspire you for your toddler meal ideas!

It can be hard coming up with new ideas for things they will actually eat.

Cereal is always an easy-go-to breakfast meal, but I like to make it a little more filling and nutritious by adding in some fresh fruit.  I just use what I have on hand that my twins like.  Sometimes I put milk in their cereal, and sometimes I just put it dry as a side to their meal.  They like eating it both ways.

Find what your toddler likes and think of ways you can make it a little different or add different fruits, etc. to it if it always seems like they’re eating the same thing.

Sometimes we do eat the same thing but I also like to introduce new foods to them.  I hope this list of simple toddler breakfast ideas will bring you inspiration for your toddler meals!

Here’s what my twins ate this week for breakfast:

Easy Toddler Breakfast Ideas

  • Toasted O’s (no sugar added)
  • Fresh Blueberries
  • Sliced Banana
  • Whole Milk

Toddler Breakfast

  • Organic Toasted O’s sweetened with honey (make sure your child is over 1-year-old if giving any honey)
  • Blackberries (from blackberry picking in our backyard)
    • You may want to slice blackberries for your toddler.  Our blackberries were small and my twins are chewing solids well.
  • Plain Whole Milk Yogurt
  • My twins like to mix their berries and cereal in their yogurt

Kid Breakfast Ideas

  • Champagne Grapes (From Trader Joe’s).  I like Champagne grapes for my twin toddlers because they are so tiny and they love picking them off the stem.  They’re about the size of wild blueberries from Trader Joe’s.  If you are giving grapes other than Champagne grapes, make sure to slice them in quarters, as they can pose a choking hazard.
  • Plain Whole Milk Yogurt
  • Mini Dutch Babies With Spinach, Turkey, and Cheddar Cheese.  I just added my own toppings in that I had on hand.  Dutch babies are made with flour, salt, milk, and eggs.  I baked these in a mini muffin tin.
  • You could make a big batch and have them for the week and keep them in the refrigerator.

Toddler Breakfast Ideas

  • Brown rice (leftover from dinner) with a can of black beans, topped with a fried egg and shredded cheese
  • Frozen Wild Blueberries
  • Sliced Avocado

Kids Trail Mix

  • Tangerine Slices
  • Frozen Wild Blueberries
  • Homemade Trail Mix With Quinoa Cereal, Sliced Almonds, and Shredded Coconut (My twin’s favorite!).  You can make your own version with the food you have on hand that your toddler likes.  Just add cereal, a protein, and dried fruit.

Smoothie Bowl

  • Smoothie Bowl With Strawberries, Avocado, Mango, and Plain Whole Milk Yogurt
  • Sprinkled with Ground Flax Seeds and Topped With Fresh Strawberries
  • For this smoothie bowl, I used a tiny handful each of frozen strawberries, frozen mangos, and frozen avocado.  Just add in a big scoop of yogurt and water and blend to get the consistency you want.  I like to make these a little thicker since they eat it with a spoon.

Kids Breakfast Smoothie Bowl

My 2-year-old twin toddler’s really enjoyed these breakfast meals.

My toddler’s favorites were the smoothie bowl and trail mix.  Here’s another week of breakfast ideas, that includes a different smoothie bowl recipe.

I usually try to make breakfast meals fun, easy, and healthy for my twins.

All of these are quick ideas (except the dutch babies, which you could pre-make), filling, and good for busy mornings.  These all took me about 5 minutes to prepare.  I like using frozen fruit for smoothie bowls since it is already pre-chopped so it’s super quick.

Remember to always supervise your child while they eat, and chop food up small!

I do give my toddlers whole Champagne grapes (From Trader Joe’s). Champagne grapes are a type of grape and are just a little larger than the size of Wild Blueberries (from Trader Joe’s). Champagne grapes are very tiny, but definitely use your best judgment when giving any food to your toddler and make sure they are chewing solids well, and chop them up if you are unsure. I never give them any other variety of grapes that are whole. I would definitely cut regular grapes up in quarters as they pose a choking hazard. My toddlers were around 20 months when I first introduced Champagne grapes to them. I will make that more clear in my post, thank you for the question!
