Rainbow Ice sensory play is so much fun for toddlers and kids!

This rainbow ice play activity is low prep and keeps kids busy and engaged!

You only need a few simple supplies to set up this simple toddler sensory bin.

This ice play activity takes minutes to prep and kept my toddlers playing for almost an hour!

Supplies for this rainbow Ice Sensory Play:

  • Ice cube tray(s)
  • Food coloring
  • Large shallow storage tub or sensory table
  • Bowls, spoons, turkey basters, etc. 
  • Water

How to set up the activity:

  • Pour water into ice cube trays
  • Add in 2-4 drops of food coloring in each and mix
  • Freeze (I froze mine overnight)
  • Pop out ice when frozen and place in sensory bin with accessories (spoons, bowls, cups, tongs, etc.)
  • I added a little bit of water into some bowls so they had some water to squirt on the ice cubes

We mixed ice cube colors to see what color they would make.

It was a hot day when we did this activity so the ice melted pretty fast.

Adding warm water for them to squirt on the ice will help it melt faster if it’s cooler out.
