Pretend Play Toddler Activity

Sharing is caring!

Do you have a toddler who loves tools and vehicles?  Then try this super simple pretend play motorcycle garage toddler activity!

My 26-month-old twin toddlers are obsessed with cars, trucks, motorcycles, and TOOLS!  They want to get into the garage to get daddy’s tools any chance they get.  That’s where this pretend play motorcycle garage toddler activity is perfect for them!

Pretend play, or imaginative play, is so important at this age (also a big milestone!) and something my twins engage in regularly.   Any opportunity (for the most part) they want to play imaginative play, I let them.

Since they love tools, cars, and motorcycles, why not have them “work on” their own vehicles?

They got out all their toy drills, hammers, saws, and screws after they brought their bikes in the house and went to work “fixing” their bikes.

I recently bought them a balance bike, and they haven’t put it down since.  Yes, I bought only one, and it is a hot commodity.

I wasn’t sure if they would be ready for one yet since they just turned 2, but they love it the most out of all their bikes.  They will definitely grow into this bike.

They bring this balance bike inside the house, outside the house, to the park, basically, they want it everywhere.  I did only buy one, even though I have twins.  I’m thinking I will buy another since it is so popular and they use it all the time.

I bought another bike that is different so we have two bikes (because you can’t come home with only one toy with twins – it will be a problem).  They definitely love this other trike, but it’s not the same as the “motorcycle.”

What You Will Need For The Motorcycle Pretend Play Toddler Activity:

  • A bike or car (any riding toys with wheels will do!).  We used a balance bike and trike for this activity.
  • Play tools (we have a large variety since they have a huge interest in tools.  We like this Melissa and Doug one and these ones – they are used consistently in our house).  The felt tools they used are from Target (love them because they are soft!).

Skills Your Child Will Be Working On:

  • Imaginative Play (so important at this age!)  Here’s a link that talks more about it.
  • Fine Motor Skills (Working with all those screws and screwdrivers)
  • Gross Motor Skills (Moving their “motorcycle” around)
  • Social Skills/ Cooperative Play
  • Problem Solving
  • Language

How To Set Up Your Motorcycle Pretend Play Toddler Activity

This is super simple to set up – another reason I love it!

Just get your toddler’s bike to an area where they can “work” on it.

Put plenty of different tools near so they can choose what they want to use to “fix” the bike.

Have them “fix” their bike.  Let them use their imagination and have fun!

When will you try this easy motorcycle pretend play toddler activity with your little one?
