Looking for an easy way for your toddler or kid to eat spinach?  Try this Berry Spinach Smoothie Recipe!

It’s quick to make and toddlers and kids love it!  This berry spinach smoothie recipe took me about 3 minutes to make!

Does your child like smoothies?  My twins love smoothies.  They are like a treat at our house.  I’ve only been making them about 1-2 times a week lately so my toddlers get so excited when I make one for them.  In the summer I make them almost daily.

Smoothie Recipes for Kids

I always forget how easy and quick smoothies are – and such a good way to get in nutrient-dense food easily.

Even if you have no problem getting your kids to eat their veggies, smoothies are still fun – even in the winter.

Ingredients:

  • Spinach
  • Avocado
  • Frozen Berries
  • Vanilla or Plain Yogurt (or Kefir)- I use whole milk yogurt for my toddlers.  Sub with another kind of yogurt like coconut milk or almond milk if your toddler doesn’t eat dairy.

How to make the Berry Spinach Smoothie Recipe:

  •  Add Small handful (about 1/2 cup) frozen berry mix into a blender- raspberries, blueberries, blackberries, strawberries
  • Add 2 scoops vanilla (or plain for less added sugar) yogurt.  I think Vanilla was the key to getting my toddlers to love this smoothie (probably the sugar that comes with it helps).
  • Small Handful of spinach (I used frozen about 1/2 cup) –  I freeze my bags of fresh spinach when they’re about to go bad.
  • Small handful of frozen avocado (or 1/2 fresh avocado) – Some grocery stores sell bagged frozen avocado (in the frozen fruit section)
  • 1/4 cup water (you could use milk – dairy, hemp, almond, rice, etc.) – add more or less depending on the thickness you want

If you don’t use frozen vegetables and fruit, add in a few ice cubes to your smoothie.

I had to make this smoothie twice because my twins asked for seconds – it was that good!  I’m sure your toddler (or big kid) will love it, too!  My 10-year drinks them all the time.

If you want to know how I get my toddler to eat and like their vegetables, read this post.

I like to serve smoothies with a lid, just because my toddlers are still pretty messy with them and berries really do stain.

Or I like to freeze them into a popsicle tray.  Popsicles really are preferred over smoothies for my twins, but you have to make those in advance – and sometimes I don’t plan ahead – so they get a smoothie.

Superfood Add-ins for smoothies (optional – 1/4 teaspoon):

  • Chia seeds (good source of Omega 3s, and fiber)
  • ground flax seeds (good source of healthy fat and fiber)
  • hemp hearts (good source of healthy fat and proteins)

I hope your child (or you!) enjoys this easy berry spinach smoothie!  It’s so quick and easy and with ingredients that are easy and healthy.

I always keep frozen spinach and berries in my freezer so this smoothie is an easy go-to for us – and my kids love it!
