Toddlers and kids can even help make this no cook playdough recipe.
Since we’ve been stuck at home since March, the days have been feeling extra long around here. I’ve been needing activities to do with my toddlers and kids.
Play dough is something I usually just pick up at the dollar store for them when I’m there. But since I haven’t been going to stores very much lately, we’ve been out of play dough for awhile. There is always Amazon, but it was fun to make this play dough – and also very cost-efficient!
Plus this playdough recipe is something kids can help mix and stir – so it’s basically two activities in one!
This no cook playdough recipe is non-toxic but not taste-safe since there is uncooked flour in it. I would probably make this for toddlers who still aren’t taste-testing everything.
My kids loved this playdough and there’s so much you can add to it. You can leave it plain just the way it is and it’s fun. My toddlers added in herbs from our herb sensory garden in the last batch we made.
The lavender and thyme made it smell amazing and it made me want to play with it – it’s very calming!
You can also add in food coloring and make it whatever color you want! I just roll it into a ball and poke a hole. Then add in a couple drops of food coloring. Add more drops if you want it more vibrant.
You could have your toddler mix colors to this no cook playdough- a great learning activity! Put in red and blue and ask them what color they think it will turn into!
The texture of this no cook playdough is smooth. It does get a little sticky and stuck to the twins hands a bit – but you could try adding more flour if it seems too sticky.
This no cook playdough is a fun and quick activity if you need something to do at home – with supplies you probably already have!
It’s a simple activity for kids and toddlers. My toddlers loved mixing their own ingredients (I made a double batch so they could have their own).
There are so many things to do with playdough.
You can add scissors, butter knives, alphabet letters, rolling pins, etc. I added things that could be easily washed since this playdough left a little residue on whatever it touched.
Playdough is calming since it’s a rich sensory activity.
This no cook playdough helped our afternoon be calm and peaceful. My 3 year olds played with this play dough for over an hour. When you need something easy and entertaining for your toddler or preschooler – you can’t go wrong with play dough!
