Pumpkin Spice Playdough

Sharing is caring!

This pumpkin spice playdough is so fun for the fall!  It smells amazing and is so easy to make at home or school.

Pumpkin playdough is one of my kids’ favorite playdough recipes.

If you love the smell of pumpkin pie, pumpkin spice lattes, or pumpkin scented candles, then you need to try this pumpkin spice play-dough!  It smells like fall!

This recipe is quick and easy to make with ingredients you probably already have at home in your pantry.

Play-dough is such an easy sensory activity to do with toddlers and kids.  It’s calming, relaxing, allows for creativity, and so much more.  My kids like to play with play-dough when they get home from school.  Our favorite after-school playdough is homemade lavender playdough.

Ingredients for Pumpkin Spice Playdough:

  • 1 cup flour
  • 1/2 cup salt (I use cheap table salt for playdough recipes)
  • 1 tablespoon vegetable oil
  • 1 tablespoon cream of tartar
  • 1 tablespoon Pumpkin Pie Spice (more or less, depending on how strong you want the scent)
  • 1 teaspoon Ground Cinnamon
  • 1 cup of water
  • Orange food coloring (I didn’t add any food coloring to mine, but if you want it more orange you can add a few drops).  I like to use this natural food coloring without artificial dyes, but use what you have!
  • Wax or parchment paper

How To Make Pumpkin Spice Playdough

1. Add all of the ingredients to a medium saucepan.  Mix well.

2. Cook on medium-low heat. Stir it continually until a ball starts to form and gets thick.

3. Once a ball is formed, take it off the heat and put it on wax or parchment paper to cool.

4. When cool enough to touch, knead the dough well.  Kids can definitely help with this step!

5. Store in an airtight container after use.  I store it in a ziplock or Tupperware container.

You can also make this using my favorite 3 ingredient no-cook playdough recipe.  This recipe is super quick to make. Just add in the pumpkin pie spice and cinnamon to give it the scent and color.

Accessories for Pumpkin Spice Playdough:

You can give your kids a mini rolling pin, mini pie pan, mini muffin tins, spatulas, etc.  I provide them with kitchen utensils, and they pretend they are chefs baking a pie or making muffins.
