Sharing is caring!
My 9-year-old came home from school the other day asking if he could make crayons. His class made crayons in art class that day, so he wanted to try it again with all of our crayons. We have so many broken crayons I thought it would be good to use them up anyway. Plus, this is such an easy and fast way to make homemade crayons for toddlers.
I had never made crayons before, and once he told me how simple it was and that no stove was involved, I immediately let him make the crayons.
Plus, I knew my toddlers would love having some “new” crayons to color with.
My homemade crayons are so easy to make and took 10 minutes (since all the boys helped peel the crayons and most didn’t have paper on them anyway). I love these kinds of crafts! Plus I used up all the broken crayons.
These crayons turned out so well, and work great! They are the perfect size for little hands to hold.

These homemade crayons are so fun and the perfect size for toddlers to hold.
It’s also a great activity for your toddler to help you with. My twins helped my 9-year-old peel the crayons, so it’s also a good activity for fine motor skills!
This is a great activity for kids of any age to help make, not just toddlers. It’s a good science activity that is hands-on!
My 9-year-old even colored with these. They are so fun and so easy to make! Plus it’s a great way to recycle your baby food tray if you have one. I used this one.
Always supervise your child with this activity in case they try putting them in their mouth.
