Fall Corn Sensory Bin

Sharing is caring!

Fall corn sensory bin is perfect for toddlers (and all kids!).  It’s so simple and easy and kept my twins busy and having fun!

This Fall Corn Sensory Bin is also a perfect activity to get kids involved with making dinner that is so easy!  I love easy, no-prep activities!

Since corn is in season right now I thought this would be a great activity for my 2-year-old twins.  Does your toddler like to help you do things?

We grew a bunch of corn this year, so we have been eating it a lot (so have our chickens)!  It’s nice to have the twins help shuck the corn and get them involved.  They love helping!

Your child will gain so much from this super simple and engaging activity!  It’s a great way to get them involved and keeps them busy!

Fall Toddler Activity

All you need for this activity is some corn and a tub.

I put about 10 pieces of corn in a clear storage tub out in the yard.  I did this outside so there was less clean-up.  You can easily do this inside as well.

I showed them how to peel them at first.  Then they immediately wanted to jump in and help!

What Does The Corn Sensory Bin Encourage?

  • Fine Motor Skills
  • Learning parts of a plant (ear, husk, silk, kernels)
  • Helping the Family (we cooked some for dinner and gave some to our chickens)
  • Learning where food comes from
  • You could also count the corn.  Talk about how many family members you have and how much corn you will need to peel and cook.
  • Talk about what season corn grows and what season it needs to be planted in

Sensory Bin Idea

My twins are really into gardens and farms right now so this activity was great!  It really helped show them the process of growing food, all the way to eating it.

Store-bought corn would also work well for this.

Once my twins get a little bit older they will help out with using a vegetable peeler on carrots, potatoes, etc.

I hope your toddler enjoys this fun summer and fall activity like mind did!  They love helping out with real tasks.

Remember to always supervise your child while doing this activity and any others from Twin Mom Refreshed!
