DIY Drum Craft for Toddlers

Sharing is caring!

Need a super simple and easy toddler craft? This DIY Drum Craft for Toddlers was so easy to make, and my twins loved it!

I’m always looking for things to do with my twins that I already have at home.  That’s why I made this DIY Drum Craft for my Toddlers, with things I already had!

Does your toddler love to bang on things and like music?  Then you should try this homemade drum.

I got out a couple of kitchen spoons and let them hit and bang the drums and make their own music.

This was such a fun and different activity.  My boys really enjoyed it, and I’m sure your child will, too!

My boys even started singing songs as they were banging the drums.  This DIY drum really lets your little one be creative and express themselves.  Music is so great for babies, toddlers, and kids!

DIY Toddler Drum Art and Craft

This activity also combines art, since I had my boys color the paper to decorate the drum.  They like using these fun DIY Homemade Crayons for Toddlers.

Materials Needed For The DIY Drum Craft For Toddlers:

  • Empty Oatmeal Container (I used a larger one and a smaller one for two different sizes)
  • Construction Paper
  • Crayons (or anything to decorate the drums, such as stickers, markers, paint, etc.)
  • Tape (I used Painter’s tape)

I used the oats from the containers to make this easy and fun sensory bin: Oats and Trucks!

How To Make The DIY Drum Craft:

  • Have your child color a piece of construction or decorate it how they want.   I used a piece of construction paper for a 42 oz. oatmeal container.  There was only a small side it didn’t cover.
  • Tape the paper onto the container with Painter’s tape (Duct tape would also work well)
  • Put on the lid
  • Give your child objects to bang the drum with such as big kitchen spoons and ladles.

Have your child try different objects to bang the drum with to see if they make different sounds.

My Toddler’s really enjoyed this activity and I used what I had.

When they were all done drumming they filled the containers up with rocks and dirt and carried it around.  They liked having their own little container to put things in.
