Toddler Car Kit for Summer

Sharing is caring!

Do you always seem to need something when you go out with your toddler and you realized you forgot it at home?

That’s where this Toddler Car Kit for Summer comes in handy.  It’s been so nice having this in my car and not having to worry about forgetting something.

It seems like I’m always out and about with my twins once it’s summer and nice out.  We’re going to parks, going on playdates, and running errands.

I’ve decided to just permanently keep a tub (or my Toddler Car Kit)  in my van with all of their “stuff.”

This toddler car kit is also so much easier than carrying a diaper bag around and repacking it.  And it fits right behind my seat.

The diaper bag was nice when they were babies.  It’s hard enough getting out the door with toddler twins, so the last thing I need is to add another big bag to carry out of the house.  Plus, I just use my oversized purse for little things that might go in a diaper bag.  When the tub gets low on items, I just bring it in the house and do a refill.

Here is my list of items I keep in my Toddler Car Kit for the Summer

  • Bottled water

    • I like to keep at least two water bottles in my car and more if it’s really hot out and we will be out for a while.
  • Snacks

    • I like snack bars for the car because they don’t really go bad and are easy to eat.  Squeeze pouches and puffs we also keep in the car sometimes, too.
  • Diapers

    • I keep a minimum of 2 diapers in the car at all times but like to carry at least 4-6.
  • Baby Wipes

    • Baby wipes are good for so many things other than changing a diaper.  We use them to wipe our hands and face, clean up messes, and wipe down dirty surfaces.
  • Sunscreen

    • I usually carry sunscreen in my purse because I like to always have it when we go outside.  We use this sunscreen because it’s natural and easy to put in my purse since it’s smaller (smells really good, too, so the kids like it).  I keep an extra bottle in the car for the summer.  Just make sure your toddler doesn’t get into it if you keep it in the car.
  • Change of Clothes, Socks

    • I carry two extra onesies in my tub at all times.  Depending on where we are going I will bring extra pants or a light jacket.  Socks are good to bring in case my toddlers’ socks get wet and plus they are small and take up hardly any room.
  • Shoes

    • I carry at least one extra pair of shoes because we always seem to lose shoes.
  • Hat

    • Sun hat for summer or warm hat for cooler weather
  • Blanket – lightweight

    • Lightweight muslin blankets are nice because they don’t take up a lot of room.  You can lay it out if you go to the park to eat lunch on!  I carry a thicker blanket in the winter.
  • Band-Aids

    • I always need to carry one or two of these.
  • Toys/Books/Teethers

    • Good for keeping your little one occupied if in the car for a long time.
  • Bag for Dirty Clothes/Garbage

    • I keep a reusable bag folded up in my tub.  It’s good for dirty clothes or garbage.  I don’t keep plastic ones in the car in case my twins get into them.
  • Dish Towel

    • This is nice and compact and good for messes or you can use it as a changing pad.
  • Bubbles/Hot Wheel Cars

    • Easy and cheap entertainment if you go to a park or a relatives house with no toys.  Hot wheels don’t take up a lot of space and my boys love them.  Add in your toddler’s favorite toys that are small!

This tub is small enough that I can fit it right behind my seat so I have easy access to it.  You can roll the onesies and blanket up so they won’t take up a lot of room.  I can’t believe how many items I was able to fit into the tub.  It really helps keep my car organized and now I always have what I need when I go out – without having to pack a diaper bag!
