You might also have all the supplies already to make this! It is super easy and simple to set up, and easy clean up since we painted outside.
Is your toddler interested in painting but you need a safe (completely edible) paint to use that they can eat? My twins have a big interest in painting right now and doing art activities.
I wanted to make something for my toddlers that was totally edible because they still like to put things in their mouths. And I can’t keep my eyes in two places at once to make sure they aren’t eating the paint.
If you have a little one who likes to eat everything then I recommend making this recipe for them so they can paint.

To make the paint, start by scooping a big spoonful or two of plain yogurt into a muffin tin (you could line these with paper cups for even less clean up).
Add a drop or two of food coloring into each cup. A little goes a long way.
My twins watched as I did this. We talked about each color as I was putting it in and also about mixing colors (red and blue make purple).
I stirred up the yogurt and food coloring and it was ready. They really liked watching this part. You could also have your toddler help you stir.
It only takes minutes to make, so it is super easy and convenient!
They couldn’t wait to go outside to paint!
I put up a sheet of paper (with duct tape so it would stick) on the fence. Painters tape wasn’t sticky enough for our fence – luckily my 9-year-old had lots of duct tape on hand for all the projects he makes with it.
I knew this would be more of a messy activity so I wanted to do it outside. Plus it was so nice out!
My twins loved this activity so much. They painted until the “paint” ran out.
First, they painted with their brushes, then they just started scooping it with their hands and smearing it all over the paper.
This art activity will become a staple in our household. My toddlers loved it so much!
We washed off with the hose outside or you could use baby wipes. Depending on how messy they get!
